Elizabeth Eddy, Crisis Text Line’s Director of Communications, will share on the program and how agencies are using this option as a way to be more accessible in a technology driven society. Our member agency will share their experience running a program and navigating the funding and staffing needs required to be effective.

Representing the oldest suicide prevention center in the country, Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services’ Training Coordinator, Nathan Lichtman, will share their crisis call center and suicide prevention model.
You will learn:

  • How the idea for a suicide prevention center stemmed from Marilyn Monroe’s death
  • Why not to use the phrase, ‘commit suicide’
  • How paraprofessional volunteers are able to create safe non-judgmental calls
  • When to have a client call us, and which number to call
  • What support services are available for those who have attempted suicide, or have a loved one who has died by suicide
